Gallery Theater Launches in West Chicago with A Gift Worthy of Giving

City of West Chicago

The newly formed Gallery Theater in West Chicago, which is in addition to the existing performing arts program at the West Chicago Park District, is in rehearsals for its December production, A Gift Worthy of Giving. Jake Dewar, Mark Fortman, Maureen Navadomskis, and Laura Matthews have been cast in the four-person holiday drama.

Based on the O. Henry short story, "The Gift of the Magi", the play tells the sweet story of a young couple in the early 1900s who find themselves almost penniless as they prepare to celebrate their first Christmas together.. Being deeply in love and wanting to find the most perfect gift for each other, they each make a decision that leaves the audience with a gentle moral lesson about the giving of gifts.

There will be two performances held in West Chicago, December 17, 2010 and December 19, 2010. The performance on December 17th will take place at Gallery 200/STUDIO, 203 Turner Court. Seating is limited for this performance, and reservations will be taken. The December 19th performance is sponsored by People Made Visible and will be held at St. Michael’s Church, 108 Sherman Street. Both performances begin at 7:00 p.m. Performances are free. Donations will be accepted.
