Library Receives “Going Green” Award

WC Public Library

The West Chicago Public Library District is the proud recipient of a “Going Green” award from Fitzgerald Lighting & Maintenance Company. The award, signifying that, “Together we can help reduce energy consumption one watt at a time,” was presented in recognition of the Library’s lighting retrofit from T12 to T8 throughout the building, resulting in an overall reduction in energy consumption of 40%.

“We take our responsibility to the environment very seriously,” said Administrative Librarian Melody E. Coleman.  “Our ‘Green Team’ has been in place for a number of years, working to reduce the Library’s carbon footprint.  And, last fall, we were proud to receive our Earth Flag Certification from the County Environmental Committee, recognizing our continuing efforts to ‘go green’ through staff education, recycling, and community engagement to preserve natural resources.”
