People Made Visible (PMV), in collaboration with the West Chicago City Museum and the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission, is happy to announce its Spring International Visiting Artists. Artists Heidi Hove and Jens Axel Beck will arrive from Denmark on Sunday, May 6, 2012 and remain in West Chicago through the end of May. They will be participating in social art projects in the community during their stay, including an art-related activity at Blooming Fest on Saturday, May 19, 2012 in downtown West Chicago from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
"We invite the community to join us in welcoming Heidi and Jens to our wonderful town on Thursday, May 10th at a backyard barbeque in West Chicago," said PMV co-founder Sara Phelan. Those interested should RSVP to PMV at (630) 473-0268 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Heidi and Jens will base their projects out of the West Chicago Community "Keeper's Garden," located on West Washington Street. They will be conducting an archeological dig of sorts, reading the history of the land and have invited the community to join in this survey. Based out of PMV's offices in the Rockwell Building, located at 108 Sherman, in West Chicago, Heidi and Jens will also hold additional programming.
According to Phelan, those interested may learn more about the project by visiting www.peoplemadevisible.com or by following the not for profit organization on Facebook. Information will also be available at the West Chicago City Museum, 132 Main Street, West Chicago. Raffle tickets will be sold at the PMV booth at Blooming Fest in support the Visiting Artist Program. The winner will receive their name on a plaque in Reed-Keppler Park.
"People Made Visible wishes to thank the City of West Chicago, the West Chicago City Museum, the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission, the West Chicago Park District and St. Michael's United Church of Christ for supporting the International Artist-in-Residency Project," said Phelan.
