Traffic Safety Campaign Continues

     The West Chicago Police Department announced that Campaign #3 of the Illinois Department of Transportation funded grant was successful in educating the motoring public on Seatbelt Safety and Awareness. The campaign ran from March 12 - 20, 2012 and resulted in 105 citations being issued, 20 of which were for Seat Belt and Child Safety seat violations and 1 DUI arrest

     Campaign #3 was the third of six overall campaigns funded by a grant received from the Illinois Department of Transportation. This grant allows the West Chicago Police Department to hire back officers to provide traffic enforcement for child restraint, seatbelt, speeding, and alcohol related violations. This grant runs through September 30, 2012.

     Campaign #4 will begin on May 11, 2012 and run through May 28, 2012. There will also be a roadside safety check during this campaign on Friday, May 25, 2012. A continuing effort will be made citywide to make roadways safer by enforcing these violations and educating the public on seatbelt safety and awareness.
