Truckloads of Fun at Reed-Keppler Park

WC Park District

Children and adults of all ages will have truckloads of fun during Touch-A-Truck on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. at Reed-Keppler Park, 129 W. National St., West Chicago, Illinois.

This free family event is a collaborative effort by the West Chicago Police Department and the West Chicago Park District. During the two-hour event children and families can explore, discover, and climb up onto a variety of construction and public works trucks including big rigs, fire engines, police cars, excavating equipment and more.

Unusual trucks and equipment will be on display from a variety of governmental agencies and private companies including the City of West Chicago Public Works and Police Department, the West Chicago Fire Protection District, DuPage Top Soil, Hager Excavating, Plote Construction Inc., Kramer Tree Specialists, A.A. Conte, Golf & Busse Towing, ABT Towing, Hoving Recycling and Disposal, Inc., Groot Industries Inc. and Winfield Township. SWAT vehicles will also be on display.

Event organizer and Crime Prevention Officer Tony Quarto, says the long-running event was established to bring the community together. “It’s a great event and everything is free,” says Quarto. “We have a committed group of businesses and people who help out the day of the event but they also help by donating prizes, food, and giveaways.” Among those helping will be West Chicago’s Scoobys and Augustino’s Rock and Roll Deli.

Kids, and grown-ups too, will have a grand time climbing up a crane, exploring the inside of a police car, discovering what it’s like to sit inside an excavator, and pretending to be a fire fighter when they honk a horn and ring the bell of a real fire truck.

Quarto is encouraging West Chicago residents to put the event on their calendars and to gear-up for a fun-filled family event. Don’t forget to bring a camera! To view the fun from a past event, visit
