A devastating fire at the Timber Lake Apartments in West Chicago on Sunday, November 4, left twenty-four households without their possessions or a place to live. Wheaton Bible Church and Iglesia del Pueblo are helping to resettle all twenty-four households in one- and two-bedroom apartments as quickly as possible.
Every household needs furniture. There is a need for sofas, chairs, end tables, coffee tables, dining tables and chairs, TVs, and dressers.
To facilitate our donations, Wheaton Bible Church and Iglesia del Pueblo have formed a partnership with Jubilee Furniture (a not-for-profit organization with a store located on North Avenue, just east of Schmale Road in Carol Stream. Jubilee's sales support Outreach Community Ministries). Fire victims will be given vouchers to purchase the furniture they need from the Jubilee store. By donating furniture to Jubilee, we can insure that there is enough in stock to meet the needs of all of the families and will also allow the Timber Lake families to select their replacement furniture, rather than giving each household a "hodge podge" of items.
The Donation Process
If you have furniture to donate, Jubilee Furniture will be scheduling furniture pickups over three days: Friday, November 9; Saturday, November 10; and Monday, November 12. Jubilee has set up a special phone number just for this effort: (630) 315-5935.
Please drop off smaller items, which can fit in your car or van, at the Jubilee Furniture store (610 E. North Ave. in the Wheaton Christian Center building on the southeast corner of North Avenue and Schmale Road) on Friday, November 9, from 1:00 to 8:00 pm and on Saturday, November 10, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Please mention Wheaton Bible Church and the Timber Lake Resettlement Project to the Jubilee Furniture staff as they receive these donations.
