West Chicago’s Gallery 200, a grassroots artist co-op located at 200 Main Street in the community’s historic downtown district, will be offering a unique opportunity for a series of Girls’ Night Out events that combine individual creativity, lively conversation and the option of continuing the evening of fun at a downtown restaurant.
Under the guidance of professional artist Britta Renwick, participants design their own piece of hand-crafted jewelry in the creative surroundings of Gallery 200. The classes include Stretch Bead Bracelet on Friday, January 25, 2013, Double Strand Crimp Bead Necklace on Friday, February 8, 2013, and Hoop Necklace on February 22, 2013. Anyone interested may choose to register for one, two or all three of the classes. They are each geared for the beginner crafter, aspiring artist, or those just wanting to try something new. Classes are held at the 200 Main Street location at 7:00 p.m., and supplies are included in the registration fee.
"Designs will incorporate the latest styles as seen in Switzerland during a visit in the summer of 2012," said Renwick, originally from Lucerne. An active member of Gallery 200 and a downtown enthusiast, Renwick came up with the idea of stopping at a local eatery following each class (at the participant's expense) to show off the new jewelry creations, support local business and "continue our fun girls' night out".
To register, contact Gallery 200 at (630) 293-9550 or register online at www.gallery200.org. Sample pictures of the jewelry to be made in all classes are also available on the website.
