Girls in the Game, a nonprofit organization, will partner with UPS to host a Super Saturday event at Gary Elementary School, 130 E. Forest Avenue, West Chicago, on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 9am-12pm.
Super Saturdays are one-day, three-hour events for girls and their families to learn about health and enjoy physical activity. On April 27, 2013, girls in grades 3-8 along with their families will have the opportunity to learn and practice track and field and jump rope. As part of the health and leadership component, girls will discuss self-identity and complete teambuilding activities. Volunteers from UPS and staff from Girls in the Game will lead activities for the event. Super Saturdays are FREE.
According to the website, since 1995, Girls in the Game, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, has emerged as a leading girls' health and fitness organization in Chicago. Every year, Girls in the Game empowers more than 3,000 girls to make healthier choices and develop the confidence and leadership skills they need to succeed on and off the field.
To attend this event parents/guardians must sign the Girls in the Game permission slip that can be picked up in any District 33 school office or found on the District website at www.wego33.org. Permission slips will be taken up until the day of the event, however space is limited. Reserve your spot early by submitting permission slips to your school’s office or fax them to Girls in the Game at 312-633-4897.
