Teacher Appreciation Week in District 33

Elementary Dist 33

May 6 through May 10, 2013 is Teacher Appreciation Week in District 33. Thank a teacher for making public schools great!

Tuesday, May 7, 2013 has been designated as National Teacher Day, and West Chicago Elementary School District 33 is joining other districts across the nation to thank and acknowledge teachers, as well as all District 33 staff, for their commitment and contribution to the education of our children and to our public schools.

On Thursday, April 25, 2013, the West Chicago Elementary School District 33 Board of Education adopted a resolution proclaiming the week of Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 10, 2013 be recognized as Teacher Appreciation Week in District 33. The proclamation states that education is one of the most important components to the economic, democratic and social strengths of this nation, this state and this community. Teachers are the purveyors of knowledge which fuels the momentum of this society. We as a community have a responsibility to our children to provide them with the educational programs and services that are necessary for academic success in our schools. We must continually seek ways to promote greater community understanding of the role of our teachers and the value they perform in providing educational excellence in the classroom.

"Public schools are at the heart of any community," said Dave Barclay, member of the District 33 Board of Education. "A quality education for our children is a joint responsibility, but our teachers are the indispensable cornerstone, supporting a strong foundation for continued learning. Let's thank our teachers for all their hard work, and celebrate our successes as we work together to do even more."
The District 33 Board of Education urges all citizens during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 6 through May 10, 2013 and National Teacher Day, Tuesday, May 7, 2013 to make special efforts to show their support for teachers who have dedicated and devoted their lives to nurturing children’s potential while helping them reach for academic success.

Among the variety of PTO sponsored activities scheduled to thank teachers and staff, the Board of Education will give each staff member in District 33 a small token of appreciation for their commitment and dedication to the students in the West Chicago community.
