Nicholas Doukas is currently a Junior at Community High School. Nick received the PeaceBuilder Award for excellent academic achievement and his desire to help struggling students. He routinely went out of his way to help students who were absent and took assignments to students who could not attend school. He is to be recognized and honored for his effort here at WeGo.

With summer vacation just days away, students have been introduced to this year’s CHS Summer Reading List and summer reading expectations. The 1st Annual Multi-district Art Show is going on now!
Please come and enjoy beautiful artwork created by the Art students at Community High School, Benjamin Middle School, and Winfield Middle School.
The Art Show will be open to the public during all of the spring music concerts from 7:30-9 p.m.. on Friday, May 17th, Tuesday May 21st, and Thursday, May 23rd.
Please enter the Community High School building through Entrance F by the Auditorium on the east side of the school. The Artwork is displayed in the hallways surrounding the Auditorium.
Works of art from Photography, Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, and 3-D Design students are all included in the show.
We are pleased to announce the “Dive into WEGO Reading” book fair sponsored by the LRC on May 21st - 23rd during all lunch hours in Commons. Cash and checks (made to CHS) are accepted, and sales tax will not be charged.
Young Adult high interest books both nonfiction and fiction will be offered along with all the books on our required summer reading lists. Fresh popcorn will be supplied by our Transition Center students for 50 cents.

A 1940's Swing Dance Club and Jazz Concert will be re-created in the historic, 87-year-old Weyrauch Auditorium at West Chicago Community High School, which was built in 1926.

Students and staff from Community High School in West Chicago recently celebrated civic education at a breakfast featuring retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. Hosted at the Union League Club in Chicago, the CHS delegation joined other civic and business leaders in Illinois in welcoming the first female justice on the United States Supreme Court. Justice O’Connor shared her remarkable journey to highest court in the land and her current passion, the need for effective civic education programs in all 50 states. This focus on civic education sparked the creation of her website iCivics.org, which provides interactive lessons to teach students government.

Each year, the Boosters organize a luncheon for the graduating seniors.. This year it will be held on Wednesday, June 5th. Since hot food and salad products are served, those items are purchased rather than donated. The Boosters would like your help in assisting to purchase these items for a class of over 515 students by making a monetary donation towards the main entrees. Community High School District 94 participated in the 2013 Illinois Personal Finance Challenge State Finals, a program of Econ Illinois. The event, held April 22, 2013 at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, involved 44 high school students representing all areas of the state competing for the Championship title. The West Chicago team of Amanda Gosbeth, Grant Hosticka, Doug Murphy, and Nicole VanDoren finished in third place in the state out of 244 original teams.

WeGo Drama at Community High School continues their 2012-13 season with the musical farce A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart (of M*A*S*H* fame). Drawing inspiration from ancient Roman playwrights, Forum follows the exploits of Pseudolus, a Roman slave seeking his freedom; he does so by helping his master romance the girl next door. Full of slamming doors, mistaken identities, and zany antics, this side-splitting evening of “comedy tonight” complements the season theme of Any Time and Any Place.
