District 33, West Chicago Public Library District, and Northern Illinois Food Bank Combine Efforts to offer FREE Summer Lunch Program to Children in West Chicago
As school comes to an end in West Chicago Elementary School District 33, and summer begins, the West Chicago Public Library District will begin to serve FREE lunch throughout the summer months with food provided by Northern Illinois Food Bank
This summer the beloved world of Dr. Seuss will be enjoyed by all as characters come to life at Seuss inspired events!
Grab your family and your pool floats and join the West Chicago Park District at Turtle Splash Water Park, 129 W National St., West Chicago, on June 29 from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. for The Lorax. The fee for Flick & Float is $5 and youth under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
The West Chicago Park District School of Dance will grace the stage with a variety of lively routines and music during their Day in the Park recital on Saturday, June 1 beginning at 4 p.m. in Weyrauch Auditorium at West Chicago Community High School, 326 Joliet Street.

Dogs can bark, roam free, and play with other canines during the West Chicago Park District’s Bark Bash on Saturday, May 11, 9 a.m. to noon at Wiggly Field, the district’s fenced-in dog park located in Reed-Keppler Park, 129 W. National Street.
Fluttering in Chicago area this Earth Day and Arbor Day will be thousands of tree tags. The West Chicago Park District’s parks department joined teams from the Morton Arboretum and volunteers from America In Bloom to hang tags at Reed-Keppler Park promoting the value of and benefits of urban trees.

The West Chicago FOP Lodge 85, in conjunction with the West Chicago Park District, is hosting the 1st annual Michael Browning Memorial Scholarship Run to Remember on April 20th, 2013.
In addition to 65,000 square feet of recreational and leisure time space, the West Chicago Park District proposed Recreation Center will offer a variety of family activities and amenities all in one convenient location—Reed-Keppler Park.
Norton Creek Elementary School in West Chicago, Illinois will be participating in the International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 3, 2012. The event is expected to include 5,000 schools from all 50 states of the U.S. that will be joining children and adults in 40 countries around the world.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11 the West Chicago Park District appointed Anthony Zaputil, of West Chicago, as park board commissioner.
Zaputil replaces Bill Spelman who resigned in early August. The position is a nine month term ending May 2013. The seat will be up for election in April 2013 for an unexpired four-year term
